Grade Report

Today I recieved a grade report for my final two courses at Macquarie even though I have yet to recieve the final essays for those two courses back or the final essay for SLA which finished in Novemeber last year.

I got my lowest grade yet for Languages and cognition, which I expected as I really did not understand the course or see the relevance it had to teaching. I do believe a better designed course with more focus on language acquistion in a classroom versus what I recieved which was a course in experimental psychology with less than 1% relevance to classroom teaching would have been useful.

For Language and Cognition I recieved a P (pass) which is all I was hoping for. In Languages and Culture in Contact I recieved a D (distinction) but was only one percentage point away from a HD (high distinction). I’m very happy with that grade.

The information also indicates that graduation is in September - of course I won’t be attending. It seems to suggest that distance students will recieve their official degrees as soon as possible after that date (September 27), but it is not 100% clear so I’ll be firing off a letter to student records to confirm this. It is important to me as once I provide proof of graduation to my employer I move up a bracket in seniority and pay scale.
