I belong to a mailing list, and forgot how I got on it, that periodically mails out job openings within Korea. Most of these positions are teaching at Universities and should be much better than the typical institute job. I have decided to share this information but, I make no claims about credibility or desirability of each position, caveat emptor.

Hannam University is a private Christian school located in Daejeon, South Korea with about 10,000 students. Hannam’s new Global College is the first home-grown college in Korea to be administered by an all native-speaker faculty & staff. The Global College is in its first phase with 37 freshmen. Growth is expected rapidly in the next few years with each new freshman
class, international exchange students and added majors. Our target is 500 students from 10 countries by 2010. Students from the Global College are immersed in English-only classes and live during the week in an English-only dormitory. The administration recognizes that the success of our program is dependent upon the quality of our faculty and staff.

Responsibilities:
n Teach a minimum of 9 hours a week. Additional hours are paid at
overtime rates.
n Contribute to curriculum development.

Required Qualifications:
n Native Speaker of English
n Earned Master’s degree in TESOL, Communication, Marketing, or

Responsibilities:
As chief academic and administrative leader of the Global College, the Dean reports to the President and works in partnership with faculty, staff, and the university community to achieve the college’s mission and to build and sustain strong collaborations in an evolving university. The Dean represents the college within the university and in turn represents the university
administration within the Global College. The Dean oversees curriculum development, faculty recruitment, and faculty student relations and also provides leadership in faculty development activities. As the college’s lead administrative officer, the Dean oversees and directs the processes governing appointments, promotion and requests for professional leaves, prepares and administers the budgets of the Global College, recruits and directs personnel, and supervises the day to day operations of the college. As external representative and spokesperson for the college, the Dean maintains extensive contacts with local, state and federal educational agencies as well as with schools, businesses, and other institutions of
higher education, alumni, and the community at large. The Dean also plays a leadership role in the college’s alumni and development efforts. The successful candidate must possess the vision, leadership, and creativity to influence the direction of the Global College.
Required Qualifications:
Native Speaker of English
Earned Doctoral degree in related field.
2 years of teaching experience at the university level.
Preferred Qualifications:
A distinguished career including evidence of excellence in teaching,
research, service and/or leadership;
A record of significant and successful administrative experience in
education or business in a higher education setting.
Knowledge of strategic planning, budgeting and resource allocation;
The ability to advance the college’s mission by building cooperative
relationships both internal and external to the school;
The ability to secure external funding and to enhance the faculty
culture of securing such funds;
Familiarity and understanding with the accreditation protocols and
performance assessments important to the Global College;
A commitment to diversity and excellence in recruiting and retaining
faculty, students and staff;
A commitment to the Global College’s Vision Statement ; and
Experience in administering or working with programs serving a
diverse student population with the capacity to understand and help
implement the university’s vision and core values.
Salary Range and Application Procedures
This is a one to three-year appointment.
Base Monthly salary between W3,500,000 and W4,000,000 depending on
qualifications and experience.
50% health insurance premium paid by the university.
Housing provided.
End of contract bonus for each year completed.
