KonKuk University Sept 2006

I belong to a mailing list, and forgot how I got on it, that periodically mails out job openings within Korea. Most of these positions are teaching at Universities and should be much better than the typical institute job. I have decided to share this information but, I make no claims about credibility or desirability of each position, caveat emptor.


Position: Lecturing Professor/Visiting Professor
Department of English Language and Literature, Konkuk University
The contract year commences on September 1, 2006
Education/experience requirements:
1. M.A. degree or higher
2. English teaching experience at the university level preferred but not required
Working conditions:
1. Twelve contact hours per week
2. Class sizes – maximum 30 students per course, only upper classmen (no 1st year students)
3. Courses expected to teach: Composition, English Pronunciation, Conversation, among others.
Salary/benefits:
1. Monthly salary of 2.5 million won or higher (depending on your qualifications): overtime extra
2. Severance pay equivalent to one-month salary per one full-year of teaching
3. Paid summer and winter vacation in addition to all national holidays
4. Opportunities for extra teaching income during school semester and vacations
5. Medical insurance & national pension to be paid 50/50 by employer/employee
6. One year contract with possibility for renewal (3 years max.)
